Brief Introduction
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering was established in 1963 as the Department of Chemical Engineering. Along with the development of modern technologies, the field of chemical engineering has become increasingly broader than ever before. The department was renamed to Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering in 2005. The Department offered the Bachelor of Science degree, and, post-graduate study leading to Master and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees were initiated in 2001 and 2007, respectively. Current enrollments in the Department are about 480 undergraduate students, 180 students in Master program and 3 persons in PhD Program. Over 3000 chemical engineers were graduated from the Department since the inception. Most of the graduates have successful careers, either domestically or overseas in industry, research institutes and academia. Recently, in order to show their gratitude to the Department, the alumni have established an educational endowment foundation to facilitate teaching and research related activities of the Department.
